What the result means

  • Pass — format & checksum: structurally correct, control digit valid.
  • Pass — format only: correct structure, no checksum available for this country.
  • Fail — format: wrong length, illegal characters, or missing prefix.
  • Fail — checksum: structure is valid but control digit is wrong (transcription error).

None of these results confirm active registration. Use VIES for that.
